TRADITION IS YESTERDAY’S LEGACY PASSED ONTO TODAY. AND TOMORROW’S CHALLENGE.
The Schmitt family’s tradition in the restaurant trade started at the “Zum Hirschen” restaurant in the centre of Moenchberg town.
Eduard Schmitt grew up here and then took over his parent’s restaurant from his father Rudolf Schmitt in 1955 with his wife Hildegard, née Zinke.
The children Karin, Andreas and Mathias were born and also grew up at the “Hirschen” in the “Hauptstraße”.
As the Mayor of°Moenchberg Eduard Schmitt had the goal of turning the town into a climatic spa.
Besides the good air, important criteria were also needed for this, such as a general practitioner,
dentist, pharmacy and hotel.
He was able to organise doctors and the pharmacy really swiftly and as one might expect,
Eduard and Hildegard Schmitt built today’s Hotel Schmitt in “Urbanusstraße” in 1972.
At some point he once said, he didn’t have a penny left once the building was completed.
Andreas Schmitt took over his parent’s business in 1982 and still runs it today in the spirit of the family tradition.
